What is a receiver, or an amplifier? What do I need to listen to my music? Here is a very simple list of items and an explanation of each. Amplifier: An amplifier is a device designed to accept a music signal and increase the strength of that signal. We receive a lot of questions about repairing old stereo gear. Can it be done? How long does it take? How much does it cost? Is it worth it? Let's tackle those one at a time. Can it be done?
